2009 ITINERARY

Day 1. Jumping Crocodile Cruise, Kakadu National Park, Bowali, Ubirr Rock Art

Depart Darwin and journey to the Adelaide River to join the Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Watch for wildlife and witness the agility of saltwater crocodiles as they leap from the water. Then enter World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park and visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, learning about the wonders of the park. Continue to the ancient Aboriginal rock art sites at Ubirr.

Day 2. Nourlangie Art Sites, Warradjan Cultural Center, Yellow Water Cruise

Travel to Nourlangie Rock to discover the renowned Aboriginal art site. Continue to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before taking a wildlife cruise on Yellow Water billabong. Leaving Kakadu National Park, travel through the small township of Pine Creek to Katherine. Katherine is a busy little tourist town. The nearby Nitmiluk National Park is home to Katherine Gorge.

Day 3. Nitmiluk National Park, Katherine Gorge, Edith Falls, Adelaide River War Memorial, Darwin

This morning journey into Nitmiluk National Park. See the spectacular 13 gorges formed by the mighty Katherine River cutting its way through the Arnhem Land plateau. Enjoy a guided cruise between the sheer and brilliantly colored cliffs of Katherine Gorge. Keep an eye out for wildlife and learn the significance of the Aboriginal art that adorns the gorge walls. Continue on to the beautiful Edith Falls, where there’s time for a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters before your returns to Darwin.
